Can I book a flight under my new name if my passport or driver’s license still has my previous name?

Your airline ticket must match the name on your government-issued identification exactly. If you haven’t updated your passport or driver’s license yet, book your ticket under your previous name to avoid any travel disruptions. Your photo ID in your previous name will stay valid until its expiration date.

Note: Starting May 7, 2025, every air traveler will need to present a REAL ID-compliant license or another acceptable form of identification for domestic air travel.
