Should I wait until my name change is official before completing my estate plan?

Yes! We recommend completing your name change first. When you sign legal documents like a Will, your name needs to match the new name on your photo ID. Doing things in order (name change first, estate plan second) means everything lines up cleanly from the start. The New Chapter Bundle is designed with exactly this sequence in mind.

However, if you completed your estate in your old name or spelled your name wrong, you can update it within your LifeLegacy account. Once you log in at app.lifelegacy.io/profile and go to “My Documents,” you’ll want to open your Last Will & Testament. If your name is spelled incorrectly or you used your previous name, you’ll need to create a new will to make sure your documents are legally accurate.
