Can I update my driver's license if I have domestic airline travel booked in my maiden/old name?

Important: When flying domestically, the name on your travel ID (such as your passport or REAL ID driver's license) must match your travel reservations/boarding pass. You won't be able to board your flight if the name on your travel ID does not match the name on your travel reservations/boarding pass.

If you have a valid passport in your maiden/old name -> Yes, you can update your driver's license to your new name. However, you must use your passport as your travel ID when traveling on a flight booked in your maiden/old name.

If you do not have a valid passport -> No, you must wait until you return from your scheduled travel before updating the name on your driver's license.
